About Michelle

Hi! I’m Michelle (she/her) and I love to lift heavy things and help others experience the joy of lifting and the freedom of breaking up with diet culture. In addition to a fitness and nutrition coach, I am a special education teacher (Ms. Ed.) in a large and diverse school district (entering my 19th year!). My skills as an educator play a large roll in my ability to coach folks with a variety of unique needs, current ability levels and learning profiles.

As someone who has a history of disordered patterns of fitness, nutrition and feeling uncomfortable in my body most of my life, I have been on and off every diet and fad fitness plan known to human kind.  When I first earned my personal training certificate, I believed the purpose was to help folks lose weight - until I learned more and did my own work with my relationship with food and fitness.

There is so much toxicity in the fitness space and what keeps me going is being a part of the force to bring about change in the industry to smash these systems of injustice (patriarchy, racism, homo/transphobia, ableism etc) and create truly inclusive and welcoming spaces where all humans with all shapes and size bodies are able to explore movement, lift heavy, and discover nutrition habits that leave them full and satisfied without diet culture messaging that actually harms and pushes many folks away from gyms and fitness spaces.
